INGREDIENTS:
- 4 (8-ounce) Certified Angus Beef ® top sirloin, or top sirloin cap, steaks
- 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper
- 1 (13.8-ounce) tube pizza dough
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup prepared tomato basil sauce
- 16 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
- Optional ingredients: blue cheese, sliced tomatoes, caramelized onions, cooked diced bacon, fresh basil, oregano
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Preheat grill to medium high. Season steaks with salt and pepper; grill to desired doneness (130° F for medium rare. Move steaks to cutting board, cover with foil and keep warm.
- Unroll and cut pizza dough into four equal pieces. Roll each piece to 1 1/2 times the original size and cut each piece in half. Brush with olive oil and grill about 2 minutes per side. Turn off flame to half the grill. (If using a charcoal grill, push coals to one side.) Place grilled crusts on the cooler side.
- Slice steaks thinly against the grain. Top each dough piece with tomato sauce, steak, mozzarella cheese and optional ingredients of your choice. Close grill and allow cheese to melt, 3-4 minutes.
